The world's first powered bionic prosthesis for above-knee amputees, the POWER KNEE offers unprecedented levels of functionality and performance. This bionic knee replaces true muscle activity to bend and straighten the knee as required. Working as an integrated extension of its user, it synchronizes motion with that of the sound leg. When walking on level ground, the user is gently propelled forward, allowing greater distances to be covered without becoming as tired as before. On stairs and inclines the knee actively lifts the user up the next step, producing a secure and natural ascent, foot over foot. Performance benefits: Powered stance - by replacing concentric muscle activity of the quadriceps, the POWER KNEE can lift the user when standing from a seated position; support the user while ascending inclines; and power them up stairs.
Powered swing extension - with an active pendulum motion, swinging forward when the user walks, the POWER KNEE restores walking dynamics during each step; propels the user forward; and enhances pelvic rotation for a more natural gait. Active heel rise and knee flexion - on level ground as well as on changing terrain, the POWER KNEE actively lifts the heel off the ground. The result is sufficient toe clearance during swing which prevents stumbling and improves user safety. Artificial proprioception - the POWER KNEE anticipates and responds with the appropriate function required for the next prosthetic step; and monitors gait symmetry to stimulate highly efficient gait.
Selection criteria:
- Unilateral transfemoral amputees - Moderate to active users - Well-fitting well-suspended socket - Patient weight range: 60 - 100kg (135 - 220 lb) - Knee Center to ground 43,5cm (17")
Availability:The POWER KNEE is currently on a limited launch involving selected facilities in the USA that have been fully trained in the use of this technology

Imagine a prosthetic knee system so smart that it automatically adapts to an individual's walking style and environment, learning continuously and optimizing control over time.
The RHEO KNEE® is the world's first microprocessor swing and stance knee system to utilize the power of artificial intelligence. Capable of independent thought, it learns how the user walks, recognizing and responding immediately to changes in speed, load and terrain.
The knee adapts to any situation, and not just within pre-set and limited parameters, enabling the individual to quickly regain confidence in his or her ability to walk where and how they choose.
New: The RHEO KNEE is now available with a threaded top adapter (special order). This version of the RHEO KNEE is aimed for users with knee disarticulation or with long residual limbs. Performance benefits: Continuous adaptation - the knee system's highly developed artificial intelligence means that it is capable of thinking for itself. It continuously recognizes, learns and responds to individual walking styles and keeps pace with changes in speed, load and terrain. Natural and efficient motion - the high precision actuator technology, which controls the knee's movements, produces an exceptionally smooth and fast response throughout every stage of the gait cycle. Unlike existing hydraulic systems, this response offers customized levels of resistance (knee flexion) as, and only when, the individual needs it. That's why walking effort is reduced to a minimum and motion is much smoother and more natural. Enhanced security - multiple safeguards are provided against inadvertent stance release, IE the knee is less likely to buckle at crucial moments. Disturbances in the walking path are recognized automatically and stance support instantly activated to protect the user from a potential stumble and fall. Simple and convenient - sophisticated technology that is easy to use, it doesn't come much better! The user-friendly 'plug in and play' design ensures a straightforward set up and calibration process with the minimum of fuss. The system is so efficient it only requires a small battery that lasts up to 48 hours and that takes only two to four hours to recharge, at home or on the road. The battery can be switched off when not in use.
Selection criteria:
- Community and workplace ambulators with the ability or potential for cadence variation and ramp/stair descent - Low to moderate impact levels - User weight not to exceed 198 lb (90kg)
Technical specifications: Availability:
- Structurally tested to A100 (220 lb / 100 kg) - Knee flexion available - 120º - Frame construction - aluminum - Net weight - 3.59 lb (1.63kg) - Low build height - 9 1/16" (230mm) - Extension assist - internal torsion spring

TKO 1500™The affordable step toward independence The TKO 1500™ allows the less active amputee to develop a more natural and consistent gait pattern.
New from Ossur, the TKO 1500™ offers amputees the freedom to start bending their knee while the foot remains on the ground, eliminating the need to hip-hike or vault to initiate swing. The result is less energy expenditure and a smoother, more natural gait. Eliminates the need to hip hike and reduces the amount of energy expended. Provides stance security at heel contact, coupled with the ability to initiate knee flexion from terminal stance to pre-swing. Can be locked at heel strike, or throughout stance phase.
The level of stability is fully adjustable, and based on alignment, the TKO 1500™ can be locked at heel strike or through the entire swing phase. Made of high-strength stainless steel for amputees weighing up to 220 pounds (100kg), the knee weighs less than 1.10 pounds (500 gms).
Several proximal socket attachments are available to choose from, including a rotatable female pyramid. Based on proven biomechanical principles, the TKO 1500™ is an affordable step toward independence and allows the less active amputee to develop a more normal and consistent gait pattern.
The angle of the knee is easily adjusted for stability and release, creating a more natural gait with the TKO 1500™
